Overview

Can our planet cope with an ever-expanding population? What should future cities look like? How will climate change impact ecosystems and humanity? As a society, we face major challenges. How can we work together to deal with these - and in a way that emphasises social justice, ecology, and cultural sustainability?

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (Geography, Environment and Population) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • study environmental processes and human-environment interactions at local and global levels
  • use physical and social sciences to understand sustainability
  • explore current and future challenges relating to climate change, global migration, and urban and rural development
  • apply your knowledge to investigate and recommend possible responses to real-world environmental problems
In addition to Geography, Environment and Population Studies, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You could be an urban planner, a disaster management specialist, or a demographer. You might help musicians minimise their carbon footprints on tour as a sustainability consultant. Perhaps you'll be an environmental analyst, economist or educator.
