Overview

Are you fascinated by the diverse and ever-changing cultures that make up our society? This exciting field explores how cultural practices shape our understanding of ourselves and others. By analysing how these practices are created, spread, and embedded in everyday life, we can gain new insights into the world around us.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (Cultural Studies) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • understand how cultural practices are created and changed over time
  • apply a Cultural Studies lens in the analysis of films, social media, literature, music, fashion, objects, Indigenous experiences, history, gender, and sports
  • hone your critical thinking, communication, and research skills to better comprehend and debate the complexities of human behaviour
In addition to Cultural Studies, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You could be a cultural analyst, a researcher, a non-profit program manager, or a diversity and inclusion specialist. You might work in public relations, helping organisations better understand the people they serve. Perhaps you'll be a community outreach coordinator or a human rights advocate.
