Overview

Want to fight for a just and equitable world? Give yourself the tools to make a meaningful impact. Whether you're interested in poverty alleviation, gender equality, environmental sustainability, or access to education and healthcare, international development will provide a framework to create real change.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (International Development) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • study factors impacting social, economic, and human development worldwide
  • analyse causes and effects of global poverty and economic inequality
  • evaluate developmental policies to reduce poverty
  • explore the United Nation's sustainable development goals for poverty eradication, gender equality, health, sustainability, and climate change
  • gain firsthand experience with bilateral, multilateral, and national agencies, NGOs, and community organisations
You can also study overseas for one or two semesters?or undertake learning experiences in developing countries across Asia and Africa. A great example is our Vietnam Study Tour.

In addition to International Development, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You might be a humanitarian aid worker with an organisation like the Red Cross, UNICEF, or World Vision. You could launch a brand to fund social or environmental solutions. Perhaps you'll pursue consulting, development economics, or international project management.
