Overview

Italy is a top ten wealthy nation, excelling in aerospace, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, and biomedical industries. It's Europe's second-largest exporter, valued at over AU$150 billion. This makes Italy a significant trading partner with Australia - and Italian a valuable language for industry internships, opportunities, collaboration, and research.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (Italian Studies) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • learn to speak, read and write Italian
  • develop an understanding and appreciation of Italian culture
  • improve your knowledge of how language works
  • learn about the social, political and economic structures that shape Italian society
  • study Italian influence in the modern world
One-semester or one-year exchange study opportunities are also available with our Italian partner universities to extend your Italian language proficiency and deepen your understanding of the culture and society.

In addition to Italian Studies, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You could be a cultural curator, a journalist in Milan, a fashion executive, or a diplomat. You might work in international business, helping companies with communication and cultural understanding. Perhaps you're interested in research, teaching, tourism, or translation.
