Overview

This exciting course prepares students for a career in the aviation industry, either as a professional airline pilot, managing a multi-crew environment, or an aviation professional. The flight operations major, when studied alongside the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations), allows students to satisfy the knowledge requirements to apply for an Air Transport Pilot Licence. The Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) represents the flight training aspect and is available for students to study alongside the Bachelor of Aviation, after successfully completing the first term of study. With a national network of flight partners, benefit from CQUniversity’s industry partnerships that not only broaden students' career opportunities, but builds valuable connections and networks within the aviation industry. CQU's partnership with Aviation Australia provides students with the opportunity to undertake a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Multi-Crew Cooperation Course (MCC) in the third year of the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations). A CASA-approved MCC course is a requirement to operate as a pilot in a multi-crew flight. The airline and airport operations major is structured to provide students with industry-relevant professional knowledge in airline and airport management and operations. This major includes aviation-specific and industry-relevant studies in airline and airport economics, finance, marketing, operations, resource management, strategic leadership and risk assessment. Students will also be introduced to the application of safety processes and how they are applied within the aviation industry and to the laws that are relevant to airline and airport operations. Students will be equipped to manage the technological changes occurring in non-flight specific operations, learning through a combination of theory and substantial work-integrated learning within the airline and airport environments.
