Overview

In this course, students will acquire knowledge across core areas of business, economics and finance, and build to perform high-level financial and economic analysis in both the public and private sector using these skills.

The course consists of common core subjects in business, core subjects in economics and finance, and includes flexibility to choose a minor or electives from business or other disciplines such as accounting, international business, social justice, statistics and politics. 

To simulate trading in money and foreign exchange markets, students have access to the RMIT Trading Facility which uses a live market data feed from Thomson Reuters Eikon.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be prepared for a range of occupations and industries, such as banking, stockbroking, funds management, insurance and superannuation, and in other private sector or government organisations requiring high-level, technical expertise in financial or economic analysis.
