Overview

This course teaches students about professional concepts and skills relating to public relations and strategic communication management, including the impact of globalisation and digital communication on professional practice. Students will gain industry experience in organisational communication and research and will develop public relations campaigns for real world clients. 
 
The course includes professional subjects in crisis communication, communication planning and writing. Communication theory and ethics are embedded across the course. The broader learning experience is enhanced through focused studies in Approaches to Popular Culture, Asian Media and Culture, Cinema Studies, Contemporary Politics and Communication or Literary Studies, as well as a range of electives subjects. 

The course emphasises industry engagement, where students gain practical experience through internships and client projects, including a required third-year internship.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in any English.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
