Overview

Become a leader in the special events sector. This course offers a combination of practical skills and business theory, teaching you how to make effective project management decisions.

Your subjects will cover management, marketing, economics, business law, accounting and finance, along with specialised event management studies that give you the skills to plan festivals and community events. You'll also develop knowledge of sustainability issues and how they affect the organisation of community events.

We place specific focus on the development of entrepreneurship, which is vital for the promotion and success of professional, sporting, cultural and community events.

You'll also have the chance to plan, deliver and evaluate student-led events on and off campus, and work with industry partners for a career-ready edge.

You can choose to complete a second major or undertake an elective in tourism, hospitality or international tourism. You can also complete a study tour overseas.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
