Overview

The heart of any business is its people. This degree equips you with skills in managing people and helping businesses and organisations operate more effectively.

The first year of the course introduces you to a range of business disciplines such as accounting, economics, business law and ethics.

 Your human resources management major gives you the knowledge to manage and motivate people. You'll learn about organisational behaviour, employment relations, human resource information systems, and how to develop and reward talent.

You can also expand your career options by undertaking a second major. Choose from a range of areas, including sport management, event management, and tourism and hospitality.

To build practical experience, you'll undertake a team project where you'll create a plan to solve a social, environmental or business problem.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in an international study tour to learn how HR management works in a global context.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

Human resource management positions in Australia are estimated to grow strongly in the next five years. Graduates can find work across a large variety of industries and organisations. Job roles include human resource manager, human resource consultant, learning and development manager and workplace/industrial relations officer.
