The Bachelor of Commerce (Business Economics) provides a strong focus on the principles of economics and equips students with the economics knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective manager in a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive world. Economics is a fundamental part of business and commerce studies, and the foundation for all business areas including accounting, finance, international business, entrepreneurship and marketing. Many key business decisions rely on a clear understanding of relevant economic concepts and principles, while business success depends heavily on timely and appropriate responses to changes in the economic environment in which a business operates. The global financial crisis, emissions trading and the introduction of the resources tax are examples of current global issues, that require graduates with economics skills and knowledge. Our business graduates work throughout the world with the range of opportunities continually expanding. Many of our graduates have gone on to reach very senior positions in both the private and public sectors internationally working in potential occupations including junior equity advisor, graduate data analyst, industry research analyst and quantitative/econometrics consultant.
