Overview

In Australia’s health sector, we’re faced with growing commercialisation, an ageing population and rapid advances in health technology.

At La Trobe, you'll learn how to navigate the rapidly changing healthcare industries and benefit from hands-on lab experience and placement opportunities.

Build fundamental knowledge of chemistry, bioscience and health before delving into infectious diseases, epidemics and pandemics. You'll develop key knowledge in anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, genetics, immunology and neuroscience.

You'll also get the technical skills you need to thrive in business. Explore market and business research, interpret financial information, analyse data, and translate complex health and scientific information.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Accounting, Biomedicine, Business analytics, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing.

Potential Career Outcomes

After graduation, you could work in a diverse range of fields across the health industry, including biomedicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medicine research. You may also choose to specialise in the commercial and administrative aspects of health.
