Learn to create, develop and deliver communication strategies for both traditional and online media.
Practise your writing skills for print, radio, television, social media and digital platforms. Learn to manage media and public relations in the contemporary world, including the analytical thinking required for strategic planning and communication management. Study emerging trends within the communications industry, along with media law and ethics. Complete, major in Communication and Media focusing on key areas such as advertising, marketing, professional and technical communication, and public relations, along with, sub-major in area that interests you most.
Gain valuable professional experience by completing an industry placement or project in your final year. working with real clients through Match Studio, our collaborative, on-campus learning space, or through our Communication and Media Clinic connecting with non-profit clients.
This packaged option allows students to fast track their study and broaden their career opportunities. Eligible students will take four postgraduate courses in their third year, gaining entry to the second year of the master's program at the completion of their bachelor degree, and achieving both qualifications in just four years.
In the final two years, you will take courses from South Australia's only broad-based Master of Communication. Key study areas include, digital entrepreneurship, digital design and strategic communication in campaigns and crises. Program content is constantly evolving and adapting to emerging trends, through engagement with our industry partners. In the final year, you will complete an industry-supervised project or placement. Students graduate with an industry-informed qualification that responds to the fast-changing needs of the communication, media and creative industries.
Careers: This program prepares students for, wide range of careers in professional communications including public relations and communication advisers; integrated communication managers; producers and administrators in the media industries; media relations and community engagement manages; and an increasing range of roles requiring digital media knowledge, from social media managers to website editors.
