Overview

The Bachelor of Data Science course is designed to give you a broad and coherent theoretical and practical knowledge required to enter the workforce as a data scientist. By completing this course, you will build a mix of skills in data analytics, statistics and computer science that will enable you to pursue a career in data science, which drives economic growth, public policy and corporate strategy by using cutting-edge data-driven solutions.

Your industry placement in the fourth year provides a unique opportunity to develop your professional and technical skills while creating and extending your professional network.

In addition to the data scientist roles, the graduates of this course will have the necessary skills for a diverse array of job titles such as, data analyst, data architect, data engineer, machine learning engineer, data scientist, analytics specialist, business analyst, research scientist and social media analyst.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
