Overview

The key advantage of dental hygiene education at Griffith University is the opportunity for hands-on skills training in specialty clinics in the disciplines Periodontology, Implantology and Orthodontics. This degree prepares you for a career as a dental hygienist working as a dental practitioner with a focus on patient education and the prevention of dental diseases. It is designed for students looking for a clinical qualification covering a range of activities including oral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management and education for the prevention of oral diseases in patients of all ages. You will study and work alongside dentists, dental technologists, dental prosthetists and dental specialists in real life dental settings, in Griffith’s modern dental clinic and in our training facilities in the state-of-the-art Griffith Health Centre. As a graduate, you will recognise dental diseases or abnormalities of the teeth, mouth and associated structures that require management and patient-centred oral health care.
