Overview

Embark on an exciting career in the emerging field of dermal science. The course will help you to develop a solid foundation knowledge in all areas of dermal science and the skills to perform safe and effective dermal treatments. Dermal procedures taught include laser and light based treatments, resurfacing procedures, lymphatic procedures and providing pre- and post-operative care for clients who have undergone plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. During the course you will undertake clinical training in a variety of settings.

Graduates of this course can expect to find employment in a range of clinical and educational settings. Dermal Clinicians are employed by plastic and cosmetic surgery practices, dermal therapy clinics, medical aesthetic companies and in beauty education.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Dermal sciences.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates of this program can enter the workforce as dermal therapists or dermal clinicians.
