Bring your passion for design to a career in devising effective communications that cut through with our Bachelor of Design with a major in Communication Design.

This degree will prepare you to work in a range of creative industries, including advertising, branding, merchandising, communications and publication design. It is taught by practising designers, who bring a real-world perspective to coursework and group discussion.

You will learn how to communicate effectively using the language of design. Coursework will help you to develop practical skills for designing for the web, print and emerging media. You will be asked to produce work to a brief for real clients and develop a professional portfolio to help you land your dream design job.

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: satisfactory completion of any English.

20th century design, Brand and identity design, Communication design strategy, Concepts and narratives, Contemporary design issues, Design for production, Digital design, Experience design and usability for the web, Interaction design for mobile devices, Packaging design, Photography for design, Publication design, Typography, Visual communication studio, Web design, Web marketing and advanced usability.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be prepared to work in a range of creative industries, including advertising, branding, merchandising, communications and publication design. The type of careers this qualification leads to may include design coordinator, graphic and digital designer, web designer, account manager, or marketing and design executive.
