Overview

If you are open minded about the particular age group or the education sector you work in, this specialisation is for you. It will qualify you to teach infants and children from birth to 12 years of age in childcare, kindergartens, preschools and primary schools.

Early childhood education is an important growth area in education and there is an increasing demand for highly qualified early childhood professionals. There is also an ongoing need for excellent primary teachers. This dual sector qualification will offer you multiple options, ensuring your flexible skills remain in demand across a range of communities and contexts.

This course is equivalent to 4.25 years of full time study but is completed in 4 calendar years.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
