Overview

This specialisation will prepare you to teach children and adolescents (5 – 18 years of age) in primary and secondary schools from Foundation to Year 12. You will develop a knowledge and understanding of learning as a developmental continuum and will learn to employ diverse approaches to meet the differentiated learning needs. At the primary level Foundation to Year 6, you will develop the knowledge and skills to teach across all primary curriculum areas. You will teach, areas as: English and literacies, mathematics and numeracy, arts education, humanities and social education, science and health and physical education. You will complete extended studies in either English/literacy or mathematics/numeracy.

At the secondary level Year 7 to Year 12, you will qualify as a specialist teacher in one discipline area; your unit choices within your discipline studies sequence will determine your specialist area as a secondary teacher.
Travel between campuses may be required.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
