Overview

Share your passion in visual arts. This course will help your skills in visual media and give you the qualifications to become a secondary teacher. During the degree, you will cover two-dimensional media areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, photography, and three-and-four-dimensional areas such as sculpture and object design.

You will gain substantial professional practical experience during the course, such as preparing and curating exhibitions or preparing and developing commissioned artistic projects. As a graduate, you will be a qualified visual arts teacher who is proficient in curriculum, teaching and assessment practice.

All of our teaching courses allow you to teach in government, independent, Catholic and other faith-based schools.

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires students to pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test prior to completing the final professional experience placement.

All students in initial teacher education courses must meet the LANTITE test standard prior to graduation. You need to demonstrate once that you have met the standard for each test component (literacy and numeracy) before you undertake your final teaching placement. Test results are transferrable and do not expire.

Transferring into an ITE course from another institution, does not reset your LANTITE sitting allowance. If you have not met the standard for either component after your first attempt, it is very important that you contact the Course Coordinator immediately to discuss your options.
