Overview

Arts at Monash provides a comprehensive gateway to a wide range of fascinating study options. Pair this with a degree in Primary Education and you can share that fascination with the next generation of young people.

You will qualify as a primary teacher across the school curriculum. You will develop an understanding of how primary school aged children learn and how they can be taught effectively and creatively across all primary curriculum areas.

You will develop your knowledge of the areas you will teach such the choice of majors from across the Arts, humanities and social sciences, literature, indigenous studies, music, psychology or theatre.

You will be fully equipped to pursue a career as a teacher of children from 5 to 12 years of age, or in a wide range of professions that draw on your two degrees.

Travel between campuses may be required depending on your choice of Arts major.

This course is equivalent to 4.25 years of full time study but is completed in 4 calendar years.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
