Overview

The future-focused Bachelor of Education (Primary) empowers graduates to weave together knowledge and skills, mind and context to inspire and educate young minds. Through a rigorous course of study integrated with professional practice, students develop their command of critical ideas and skills, develop their professional identity and build their capacity to create knowledge for the future alongside parents/carers, other professionals and the wider community. Graduates understand the world from multiple viewpoints and possess the relational sensitivity, competency and imagination to evaluate and adapt to rapid changes in contemporary society. As an Initial Teacher Education degree, successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) enables you to apply for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.

Commencing full-time or part-time students in this course will be considered for the Enabling Educator Excellence (E3) Scholarship, funded by the South Australian Government, without having to apply separately, provided they meet the specified criteria. This degree will allow students to gain the skills employers are seeking with our nationally and internationally recognised transformative curriculum, based on contemporary research understandings of how to prepare effective teachers. Students will integrate their knowledge and skills with a minimum of three professional experience placements in primary schools, and can choose to specialise in curriculum areas including science, visual art, health and physical education and languages.
