Overview

This course prepares graduates for a career in teaching and related fields. It examines learners and learning theories, curriculum studies and approaches to primary teaching and assessment. Students undertake practical work in schools and a variety of other educational sites in rural and remote locations from the first year of study. The course has a special focus on education for sustainability and improving outcomes for Indigenous students. Specialisations include: English/literacy; mathematics/numeracy; science; or health and physical education. Not all specialisations are available at all campuses. This course is nationally accredited through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) in association with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Graduates of this course are eligible for teacher registration in Australia.
