Overview

The Bachelor of Educational Studies is your pathway to further studies in education and teaching.

You'll develop fundamental critical thinking skills and build knowledge in contemporary education theory. You’ll learn key concepts of student development and establish critical capabilities in literacy and numeracy.

With six common first-year subjects, students who perform well can apply to transfer into an undergraduate teaching degree for second year. You may also choose to complete this degree to gain expertise in educational studies.

Once completed, graduates have the option to progress into a Graduate Entry Teaching program.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Business, Curriculum studies, Humanities, Psychology.

Potential Career Outcomes

This course is ideal if you want to pursue a pathway into teaching. It’s also suitable for roles outside primary or secondary school environments. These areas might include educational design, industry training, administration and management, community and cultural programs, social services, mentoring, teachers' aides, tutoring and after school programs.
