Biomedical engineers design and manufacture implantable and external medical devices, including orthopaedic, cardiovascular and other electronic and surgical equipment.
This degree meets the entry requirements for the Doctor of Medicine program.
You may apply to change your chosen Engineering stream after enrolment. Any change should be made as early as possible in the program to limit the need for catch-up work and to ensure satisfactory completion of the requirements for the new stream.
Mathematics Advanced (Band 4) or Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or Mathematics Extension 2 (Band E3).
Biomedical Engineering: biocomputation, biomedical modelling and design, bionics and bioelectronics, nanoscale biotechnology.
Other specialisations available include: computer systems, engineering data science, humanitarian engineering, innovation and entrepreneurship
Biomedical device designer, biomedical engineer, clinical support specialist, forensic engineer, instrumentation engineer, medical device assessor, patent examiner and field service engineer, prosthetist, quality or regulatory engineer, test engineer, tissue engineer.
