Overview

This double degree combines the essential elements of environmental science (understanding the interactions in the environment) with environmental engineering (designing solutions to environmental problems).

As a double degree graduate you will be uniquely placed to work in a variety of industries and roles, with a combined understanding of the science and the ability to design technical solutions. You will be studying with leading researchers and industry leaders in state-of-the-art facilities allowing you to gain skills that are readily transferable to industry.

This course puts you at the interface of science and engineering and offers:
  • considerable hands-on experience with laboratory and field equipment
  • field trips as an integral part of the learning process
  • opportunities to work on collaborative projects with industry
  • minor studies in groundwater and either environmental biology or environmental chemistry.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: Further Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include forestry, mining and service industries, environmental consultancies, analytical services for site assessment, analytical services for site remediation, recycling and waste treatment companies
