Overview

This double degree equips graduates for diverse employment opportunities across sport and health-related areas with the opportunity to pursue a career as a psychologist with further study and training. Field experience enables students to apply theory and knowledge in practical settings to develop a professional approach to training and preparation for their careers. Students complete a 140-hour exercise science professional placement in the third year of the course. Students access facilities that include fully-equipped exercise physiology, biomechanics and biochemistry laboratories, a multi-purpose sports hall and a weight training gymnasium. Graduates can pursue postgraduate or graduate-entry studies to become a psychologist or an allied health professional in areas such as clinical exercise physiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition/dietetics or to become a personal development, health and physical education teacher. Potential Career Outcomes

Psychologist (with additional postgraduate training) or careers that have therapeutic connections to sport and exercise, such as professional athlete counselling, rehabilitation, or counselling within schools and colleges.
