Overview

Our Fitness degree is designed by industry experts, who will guide you towards success as a leader in the Fitness field where you will:
  • Learn the latest techniques and theory in health, exercise science and management disciplines to become a leader in the fitness profession.
  • Design evidence-based practice in fitness and health to support the fitness needs of individuals, groups and the community.
  • Graduate with the knowledge needed to plan, conduct and evaluate safe exercise programs for a broad range of the population.
  • Gain practical experience at VU's numerous fitness centres, including an aquatic centre, gyms, and group and individual fitness programs.
Study areas include nutrition, fitness training for all populations, marketing for the fitness industry, management, ethics, and personal, group and resistance training.

Minors available as part of this course include: Advanced Sport Science, Health and Nutrition, Sport Coaching and Sport Management.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Fitness.

Potential Career Outcomes

This course may lead to a variety of fitness industry careers in fitness centres, gyms, aquatic facilities, community facilities, corporate facilities, corporate and community health, recreation facilities, and personal training businesses.
