This course develops a sound scientific background in human nutrition including physiology, nutrition and food science. Students investigate the factors that impact what effects food and nutrients have on our physical, social, mental and environmental wellbeing. You will gain knowledge in the different nutritional practices, understanding of the role guidelines play, and specialist knowledge of the physiological, social, and epidemiological factors influencing diet-related diseases prevalent in societies today as well as across the lifespan and populations.
Programs in health and sport at UC aim to provide you with the skills and knowledge to improve the quality of life for both individuals and communities. Our programs focus on the study of physical and mental health, disease, community wellbeing, recovery and rehabilitation. We have excellent facilities for both study and research, with the new UC Hospital joining the student-led clinics in providing opportunities for interprofessional student placements and practice. Our research is focused through the Health Research Institute, which consolidates and showcases the university's health and sport research strengths, building the scale, scope, sustainability and infrastructure necessary to support world-class health and sport research and to take it to the world. We have strong links to national and international sport and health organisations where opportunities exist for further student engagement, research and learning.
