Overview

Package, degree in human movement with postgraduate studies in education to become, secondary health and physical education teacher.

Build strong foundation knowledge in core areas such as human anatomy and physiology, the sociology of health and physical activity, growth and motor development, and group and team psychology. Broaden your knowledge through studies in nutrition, exercise physiology, biomechanics and motor learning. Tailor your studies through, wide range of elective courses covering topics such as outdoor education, sports coaching and health promotion.

Focus on adolescent learning with the ability to teach key Learning Areas within the Australian Curriculum, including Health and Physical Education to Year 12 and Science up to Year 10. Depending on your final year electives, you may also be qualified to teach Outdoor Education, English, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, or Languages to Year 12.

Benefit from practical learning, completing supervised industry placements totalling more than 60 days across both programs in, range of educational settings.

Pre-Placement Requirements:

All students who, as part of their program, undertake activities where interaction with patients/the public is required, such as in field or clinical placements/visits and in University clinics and gyms, must satisfy the pre-placement requirements prior to commencement. These may include:

  • Criminal history screenings
  • Department of Human Services (DHS) checks
  • Vaccinations and screening for communicable diseases
  • Professional training and certification
