Overview

Linguistics is the study of human language, its nature, origins, evolution, and uses. How does language affect the way we see the world? How does it reflect our social and cultural identities? By studying linguistics, you can unlock the mysteries of human communication and gain insight into the diversity and complexity of cultures around the world.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Languages (Linguistics) is interactive and immersive. You will:

  • understand how language influences our interactions
  • examine differences between child and adult language acquisition
  • compare how languages vary
  • explore unconscious knowledge we build about language
  • improve communication skills across your first and subsequent languages by unpacking language structure.
Where could it take you?

You could teach in schools or adult education settings. You might research Indigenous language origins and play a part in preserving them. Perhaps youll help migrant families access crucial services. There are so many ways to apply your knowledge and make a difference.
