Ready to deep-dive into the language and culture of contemporary Greece? Modern Greek, the Greek language known in the modern era, is spoken by approximately 13-15 million people worldwide. Learning its intricacies can open doors in a changing world and connect you with a rich cultural heritage.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Languages (Modern Greek Studies) is interactive and immersive. You will:

  • learn to speak, read and write Modern Greek
  • explore the culture and history of Greece and Cyprus
  • gain an understanding of the Greek diaspora and its position in the world from linguistic, cultural and political perspectives
  • study Greek influence in modern society
  • have the opportunity to study abroad
The University of Adelaide has student exchange links with over 100 institutions around the world. You can study overseas for one or two semesters, with credit toward your degree.

Where could it take you?

You could work in a museum, as a diplomat, in policy, or at film festivals. You might pursue international business, helping companies with communication and cultural understanding. Perhaps you're interested in teaching, tourism, or interpretation.
