Overview

Want to communicate on the cutting edge? Japan's technology, art, and pop culture are reshaping our lives. The country boasts the third-largest economy globally and is Australia's second-biggest trading partner. Japanese, spoken by 130 million people in Japan alone, is the ninth most common language in the world.

What will you do?

Our Diploma in Languages (Japanese Studies) is set up so you can study a language alongside your primary degree. It will usually add an extra year to your time at university. You will:

  • learn to speak, read and write Japanese
  • develop an understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture
  • improve your knowledge of how language works
  • study Japanese influence in modern society
Where could it take you?

You could work in media, visual effects, or robotics. You might pursue international business. Perhaps you're interested in teaching or tourism. Adding a language to your resume will give you a competitive edge in almost every single field.
