Overview

The Monash law degree is designed to equip you with the legal knowledge and skills that are required for admission to legal practice; and an opportunity to develop specialised knowledge in a law area of your choice. The course develops through three broad themes: legal methodology and legal practice; public law; and private law. Specialised knowledge and advanced skills are imparted in later year law elective units, including a range of research electives.

In addition to your suite of dedicated law electives, in this single degree course you will have four additional electives which you can use either to further extend your knowledge in law or to develop your knowledge in a non-law area.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 35 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 30 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).

Potential Career Outcomes

Law graduates find work in a wide range of careers.  The type of careers this qualification leads to can include Barrister, Magistrate, Prosecutor, Solicitor, Conveyancer, In-house counsel, Mediator, Legal Advisor, Litigation Officer and Migration Agent.
