Overview

With the technology advancement in the recent decades, enterprises today face many law and technology issues such as privacy, ethics, intellectual property and other legal disputes. In the meantime, law firms are in the market for staff who understand both the law and information technology. This double degree will shape students into a legal professional with an edge.

They will be equipped to handle the complex nature of law and technology issues such as privacy, blockchain, intellectual property and other legal disputes that enterprises face today in this technologically advanced world.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Business, Business Analysis, Business systems, Computer applications, Computer operating systems, Database management, Design (Business), E-Business, IT Management, Information Systems, Laws, Management.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be able to effectively perform in a global business IS environment to design and implement business solutions, grounded in current IT infrastructure, technology development, organisational change and ethical codes of practice. They will have the opportunity to work in various areas of law, for example, as Technology Advisory Lawyers, Dispute Resolution Lawyers or Legal Consultants in legal service organisations or public and private enterprises.
