Overview

The Bachelor of Legal Services produces graduates with professional competencies and highly valued generic skills such as critical thinking, teamwork/collaboration and effective communication. Students will develop a core knowledge of the principles and practices of legal services industry underpinned by specialised studies in legal writing and drafting, interviewing, and legal research and compliance. This qualification will prepare students for a career in the legal services industry although it will not enable you to practise law as a legal practitioner. Students will engage with important ethical principles and develop appropriate professional conduct towards clients, employers, and community.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Advanced legal services, Law profession.

Potential Career Outcomes

The course prepares graduates to gain employment in the legal sector and beyond. Possible careers include advance legal services, paralegal, compliance officers in companies, financial institutions, non-government charitable organisations, or careers in government or courts.
