Griffith University - Gold Coast
Our oceans cover 70% of the surface of the earth and are some of the most poorly understood ecosystems on the planet. This massive natural resource is also under constant pressures from our modern, coastal society. For complex issues such as global climate change, food production, tourism, oil, gas and mineral extraction, and waste management, the need for highly trained and specialised marine science professionals continues to grow.
Griffith is the ideal location to study marine science, because we are like a natural laboratory, with the perfect mix of pristine natural areas and urbanised developments. We offer cutting-edge teaching and research strengths, consistently delivering world-class thinking and innovation. Griffith’s Bachelor of Marine Science degree has a broad interdisciplinary approach, encompassing marine biology, chemistry and quantitative physical science. In your second and third years you have the opportunity to focus on one or more of four specialisations (minors).
Majors: Coastal management, marine chemistry and biotechnology, marine ecology.
Roles in marine biology, environmental consulting, pollution control and mitigation, fisheries and aquaculture, modelling and meteorology, oceanography, coastal planning and marine parks, marine education and tourism, environmental assessment and planning.
