Overview

Gain a foundation in the principles and techniques of modern mathematics and learn how to apply these skills to solve today's problems. This degree prepares graduates for employment in a wide range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) industries. Potential occupations data and analytics officer, quantitative assistant trader and consumer research executive; potential employers may include research centres, universities and public and private companies.

The Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences has been designed to provide graduates with a strong foundation in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of applied mathematics and statistics and the ability to critically analyse and evaluate mathematical and statistical information, to create models and solve problems.

On completion of the degree students will be able to proficiently use mathematical skills and knowledge to analyse and systematically develop complex systems and develop mathematical solutions that address problems arising from a variety of social, political, international, economic and environmental contexts.

The Australian Mathematical Society does not formally accredit university degrees but does publish accreditation standards. Flinders University's mathematical sciences degrees have been designed to exceed these standards.

On completion of this degree there is an opportunity to apply for an addition one-year Honours with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. For further information visit www.flinders.edu.au/honours.
