Overview

La Trobe's Bachelor of Oral Health Science will develop your understanding of oral health promotion and the prevention and treatment of oral diseases to successfully practice as a registered oral health therapist.

When you study oral health at La Trobe, you'll get hands-on experience through clinical placements across Victoria and treat patients under the supervision of experienced clinicians. You'll have access to our on-campus clinical facility to practice your skills in dentistry, special needs dentistry, pharmacology and oral health practice, preparing you to undertake external clinical placements. You will have regional, rural and international placement opportunities.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

fter graduation, you could register as an oral health therapist. You could work in dental clinics, community health centres and Indigenous health collectives. You could also work in health promotion, education, research, management and policy development roles.
