Overview

This double degree provides a broad overview of psychology, and specifically, insight into the determinants of criminal behaviour.

It will prepare you to work in the areas of law enforcement, corrections, offender rehabilitation and policy development. It also forms part of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited pathway to becoming a registered psychologist.

All Swinburne degrees include a guaranteed Work Integrated Learning opportunity, which could be a placement, internship or industry-linked project. In this degree, you'll have the opportunity to apply your learning in an industry-linked project during your final year of study.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be well prepared to work in a range of sectors and industries, including policing, corrections, courts, offender rehabilitation, victim support and government policy development. The type of roles this qualification leads to may include psychologist (with further study), intelligence analyst, investigator, crime analyst, victim support worker, government policy writer, corrections officer, social welfare consultant, child safety officer, clinical worker.
