Overview

This four-year integrated undergraduate/Honours degree is designed to give you an understanding of human behaviour, motivation, relationships and communication. In the first three years you will complete a major in Psychology and specialised units in Social Research Methods and Interpersonal and Organisational Skills. In fourth year, you will undertake advanced studies in quantitative or qualitative social research methods, professional practice units (psychological assessment and ethics) and a research thesis.

Progression to fourth year is dependent on meeting specific academic standards. If you successfully complete the first three years but do not meet the required academic standards, you will exit and graduate with a Bachelor of Psychological Studies.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Psychology.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates of this course are eligible to apply for provisional registration as a psychologist. Further training at the Masters and Doctoral level is required to become fully registered psychologists.

Graduates of the course may also find employment in community/health services, education, recruitment, marketing and market research, community services and human resources, or may undertake further study to qualify as teachers or social workers.
