Overview

In this course, you'll learn alongside students from other health-related programs about the core concepts and principles which underpin contemporary healthcare practice, such as; anatomy, physiology, pathology, communication, evidence and research, cultural safety, collaborative care and health informatics. You’ll also learn the foundations of medical radiation sciences including the function, operation, and computer interfacing used in radiation therapy, radiography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT, and MRI.

You’ll develop key patient care skills, and learn about the psychological and ethical aspects of healthcare provision in Australia. Throughout the course, you will also gain insight into a range of different allied health professions, and can choose to study prerequisite elective units, to prepare you for a number of postgraduate, health care discipline courses including radiation science courses.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
