Overview

The Bachelor of Radiation Sciences (Informatics) covers the key concepts of medical radiation physics and instrumentation, imaging and treatment modalities, anatomy and physiology, oncology, basic programming skills, network design, managing databases and IT projects, maintaining system and user security as well as the integrity of data and digital images.

This course combines core radiation sciences units with information technology application and knowledge to prepare students to assume professional roles within the health care sector and medical radiations industry more broadly as informaticists. Graduates have an in-depth understanding of programming, computer systems, networks and security, data management, project management, systems development and data visualisation and can expect to find positions in relation to management, acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of health information to improve access, security and integrity, and the quality of the data and digital images.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
