Overview

In this course, students can select and study subjects from their major starting in first year, and continue to specialise in second and third years. Students participate in fieldwork and practical experience. They undertake hands-on study and research in areas such as tropical rainforests, coastal wetlands, mangroves, tropical savannah, and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as in more traditional science areas. The Physics major of this course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) while the Chemistry major is accredited with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).JCU Offer Guarantee: JCU offers guaranteed admissions to most courses if a minimum ATAR is achieved. Prerequisites

Majors

Townsville: Aquaculture science and technology; chemistry; data science; earth science; marine biology; mathematics; molecular and cell biology; physics; zoology and ecology. Cairns: data science; earth science; zoology and ecology. Only the first year of the aquaculture science and technology, marine biology, and mathematics majors can be studied at Cairns.
