Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Energy and Advanced Materials) will appeal to applicants who want to learn about the underlying science of modern device technologies that are based on materials, such as solar cells, display screens and transistors. It provides a solid foundation in physics and cutting-edge materials and prepares students to understand physics and materials at a deeper level, apply scientific principles in a materials context, appreciate experiment design and execution, and use scientific instruments commonly used in physics and materials.Diverse employment opportunities exist in a range of areas such as optics and photonics, telecommunications, micro-electronics, nano-electronics, instrumentation development, acoustics and geophysics. Examples of possible future careers in an advanced materials related field include fibre optics designer; electronic device developer or an electronics engineer.
