Overview

This accelerated program allows you to qualify as a veterinarian in 6 years. The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is usually a 4-year degree, but this graduate degree package grants you one year of credit as you will complete Veterinary Biosciences subjects in a Bachelor of Science. It guarantees students a Commonwealth Supported Place or International Fee Place in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. 

To progress to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students will need to:
  • complete the first and second years of the Bachelor of Science, including specified prerequisite subjects;
  • achieve a minimum Weighted Average Mark of 70% across all level 1 subjects and 70% across all level 2 subjects;
  • at the end of second year submit a personal statement;
  • at the end of second year satisfactorily complete a situational judgement test; and
  • enrol in the Veterinary Bioscience major.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; and a study score of at least 25 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods (any) or Maths: Specialist Mathematics; and a study score of at least 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics.--OR--Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; and a study score of at least 25 in both of Maths: Mathematical Methods (any) and Maths: Specialist Mathematics.
