Overview

Prepare for a professional career in human services and learn how to identify the social policies that impact people's lives and the strategic ways to implement change.

Develop the skills to enhance the wellbeing of people who have experienced personal or social difficulties, across areas like child protection, community housing, welfare, community services, disability support and aged care. You'll focus on studies in behavioural and social sciences, contemporary human service practice, human service management and social policy development. You'll also learn how behaviour is affected by different cultural, environmental, psychological and political factors, along with the communication and ethical skills needed to work in the field.

Gain practical experience through our social work and human services studios on campus and complete more than 500 hours of supervised placements during your studies. Attend classes on campus with the option to study some courses online.

Graduate with a degree recognised by the Australian Community Workers Association and be eligible for full membership.

Careers: Community development officer, social policy adviser, social researcher, community services manager, caseworker, case manager, human rights advocate, child safety practitioner, outreach program manager, support worker, ministerial adviser, researcher, academic, counsellor (with further study).
