Bachelor of Social Work

Contribute to the wellbeing and improvement of society when you study social work at UOW. You will learn how to work with people who are disadvantaged and marginalised by society because of poverty or personal circumstances. You will build the skills to promote social change and development and improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. On completion, you will use your strong commitment to social justice and human rights to enter the labour market with extensive skills,knowledge, and professional practice experience.

You'll benefit by learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their fields. You will learn core fundamental knowledge across practical and theoretical subjects in the first year of your degree before progressing into dedicated Social Work subjects and practicums. You will build a balance of skills, concepts and theory, as well as hands-on experience in professional practice across a range of key areas including working with individuals and society, upholding social justice, engaging with the community and developing skills for practice.

Throughout this degree, you will gain 1000 hours of hands-on experience through supervised professional practice and make meaningful professional connections across the social work profession.
