Overview

The Bachelor of Space Science at RMIT University allows you to prepare for an exciting career in the growing space industry. In addition to space science and physics, you will study complementary subjects in satellite remote sensing, mathematics and data analytics. You can also complete a cross-disciplinary minor in Geospatial Science or Spacecraft Technology.

These interdisciplinary linkages will provide you with the basic building blocks of scientific knowledge and engineering fundamental in the field of space science and technology.

In the final year of the course, you will have the opportunity to gain professional experience and to apply your knowledge and skills to real-world work-based projects. RMIT maintains strong links with industry and professionally recognised bodies.

With access to state-of-the-art facilities and a focus on developing practical skills, you will be job-ready when you graduate.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

This degree prepares you for a career in the space industry. After graduating, you will be qualified to work in government, national space agencies, and industry both in the upstream and downstream segments.

You will be prepared with advanced knowledge, understanding and problem-solving skills critical to modern careers in the growing space industry. You will also be equipped with the base understanding to easily migrate into more specialist areas where required.
