This course aims to provide students with an understanding of sport and physical activity policy frameworks and legal requirements and introduce students to the diversity across fields of sport and physical activity. This degree equips students with a wider knowledge base by combining the study of sport and physical activity with other areas including health and nutrition, tourism and business and provides students with an understanding of the significance of sport and physical activity within the context of a healthy lifestyle.
On completion of this degree students will be able to apply knowledge about how sport and physical activity is created in a range of settings by learning about individuals, their communities, and their social and cultural environments within sport and physical activity settings. Students will be able to display an understanding of the role of elite sporting environments, community sporting settings and community health-based physical activity within a contemporary healthy lifestyle and motivate individuals to engage, learn, value and participate in a diverse range of sport and physical activity settings.
This degree has major options in Applied Sports Science, Outdoor Education, Sports Business and Active & Healthy Communities. And will prepare graduates for a career in the sport development, sport coaching, leisure, health, sport and event management industries, and may provide a pathway to further studies in physical education teaching through the Master of Teaching courses.
Expand your career options by combining this degree with the Bachelor of Business (Management) (SATAC code 284111) or the Bachelor of Psychological Science (SATAC code 284601).Combining degrees enables students to follow their interests and aspirations and enhance their career prospects by undertaking a second area of study in addition to their primary degree. Completing an approved combined degree option will normally add at least one extra year (full-time equivalent) to their studies. For example, students combining two three-year full-time equivalent degrees are normally able to complete both degrees in four years of full-time equivalent study.
