Overview

This double degree provides you an understanding of human movement and of the structure, practices and participant needs of the Australian sport, exercise and active recreation sector. This course combines sport science and management, with majors in either Sport and Active Communities or in Outdoor Recreation Leadership. You'll gain knowledge and critical appreciation of human movement and the management of organisations in the sport, exercise and active recreation sector. The course also provides an in-depth career and professional development program that includes practical experience in administrative and leadership positions.

Minors available as part of this course include: Sport coaching, advanced sport science, fitness and conditioning, games and sports, health (sport science minor), health and nutrition, international sport management, outdoor recreation leadership, sport and active communities, sport coaching, and the entrepreneurial mindset.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Outdoor recreation leadership, Sport and active communities.

Potential Career Outcomes

This course will prepare you for a broad range of roles in exercise and sport science, community fitness and health, personal training, community sport development, sport and active recreation planning, sport club management, or leadership in outdoor education and recreation. You may be employed as an administrator, officer or manager of sport governing bodies, clubs, facilities or gym and leisure centres, of become an educator, leader or trainer for outdoor adventure programs.
